Op Amp Rolling on Little dot 1+

Post by marv524 »

Hi all, i would like to address this question especially to the manufacturer and designer of the Little Dot 1+ as i have one myself.. my question is

Will op amp rolling result to big advantage and benefit? or will it do more harm to the amp? i read that when designing an amp it takes a lot of testing as quoted in one blog... i quote " They’re optimized for different input bias values, configurations, gains, feedback circuits, load impedances, quiescent currents, speeds/bandwidths, compensation values, operating voltages, noise trade-offs, etc..."

So for example will changing the stock op amp (mc33078n) to a let's say a Burson V5 yield anything benefiacial or will it do more harm than good? is the stock op amp that you have installed in the design the most compatible already for the LD 1+? i just wanted to know if I could improve the sound or really benefit anything before i roll op amps..

BTW... congratulations on the build quality of the LD1+... nice

Typically we don't officially endorse op-amp rolling as the default op-amp was carefully chosen to work in synergy with the overall design. That said, many people like to play around with different op-amps and it's - for the most part - safe to do. Just be forewarned that any mishaps that occur from op-amp rolling (incompatible, inserted wrong, etc) is not covered by our standard warranty.

Good enough for me.. Thanks for replying :)

Will just look for a very warm tubey valve to use with my LD 1+..

Any recommendations?

Thanks again
